Talking Taboos in the Workplace

There are certain subjects that can be uncomfortable to talk about in the workplace. Considered to be too awkward, too embarrassing or too personal for polite conversation by many employers, they will often shy away from or handle badly important issues including menopause, periods, bereavement, fertility, politics, religion and disability.

This seminar will help you discover how to tackle taboo subjects in the workplace and take away some hints and tips on how to navigate company procedures where these subjects can often come up and avoid costly employment tribunal claims.

Advanced Manufacturing Tour and Cobot Demonstration

Fife College is hosting an Advanced Manufacturing Tour and Cobot Demonstration at its Glenrothes Campus showcasing the most up-to-date industry technologies covering pneumatics, hydraulics, robotics and PLC control, all of which are modelled on industry-standard production lines, creating a realistic, relevant, and high-quality training environment.

There will be a demonstration session on Collaborative Robots (Cobots) from SP Automation with the opportunity to get hands-on and learn how to programme a Cobot to perform key tasks.

Tenant Protection Act Becomes Law

Emergency legislation giving tenants increased protection from rent increases and evictions during the cost of living crisis has become law after receiving Royal Assent.

The Cost of Living (Tenant Protection) Act gives Ministers temporary power to cap rent increases for private and social tenants, as well as for student accommodation.

New Workplace Initiatives Lead To Factory Jobs

CR Smith welcomed seven new recruits to its manufacturing plant in Dunfermline this summer, who all joined the company through cross-industry jobs initiatives that support people into work.

In partnership with DWP Fife, Kingdom Works and Fife College, CR Smith helped to create a new manufacturing skills academy and work experience programme introducing people to roles in despatch, warehousing and production. The collaboration proved a big success with six securing jobs in the fabrication and machine shop at the end of the programme.

Spirited Performance At Trade And Consumer Shows Benefits Tayport Distillery 

Tay Spirits, the award-winning producer of premium vodkas, gins and liqueurs, is continuing to reap the benefits of engaging with InvestFife and Business Gateway Fife as the family business grows.

Trade Development Grants, accessed through Fife Council’s Trade Development Programme and administered by Business Gateway Fife, have enabled the award-winning Tayport-based distillery to attend key consumer and trade shows over the past six months.
