Hello Voornaam,

Our big change this week has been in print: the new-look Scotsman appeared on Tuesday, and we've been enjoying the new format since (if you haven't tried it yet, tomorrow's will be a cracker).

But it has also - by design - brought dividends for digital subscribers, as we've been able to focus on higher-value journalism across all of our platforms. That means even more deeply reported, richly written and exclusive stories every day of the week.

Examples include:

- Alastair Dalton's exclusive look inside Glen Sannox, the much-delayed CalMac ferry, which is (finally) nearing completion at Ferguson Marine.

- Alex Brown's exclusive interview with Stephen Flynn, the SNP's Westminster leader, in which he hinted a second Scottish independence referendum might not, after all, be the price of SNP cooperation for a future minority Labour government

- Ilona Amos's report on the increasingly high temperatures being faced in Spain, Portugal and the rest of the Mediterranean: is it getting to hot for a holiday there?

And much more, of course.

Our plan is that, through the week, we'll always have fresh in-depth reporting on key issues - including politics, education, health, the environment, food and drink, Scottish heritage and more - as well as all the updates you'd expect on the key events each day.

And, of course, it's not just the serious stuff... one piece causing some hilarity in the office this week (and, I suspect, among a few of you, given the numbers reading it) is our guide to some of the hardest-to-pronounce whisky names.

I'll bet most Scotsman readers know how to pronounce Laphroaig, or Lagavulin. But what about Caol Ila, or Bunnahabhain? Why don't you take a look at the whole list? (You might find a few a little easier after a glass, of course).

Have a wonderful weekend - and, if you have the chance, do try our Saturday paper: we're very proud of our new look, and hope very much you'll enjoy it.

Best wishes,

Neil McIntosh
