It is the first of two consecutive bank holiday weekends and while the weather is cloudy across NI and set to be so in the coming days, it is markedly milder, on the brink of May.

Quite good conditions perhaps for the Belfast marathon tomorrow

I hope it will be nice for the coronation. Here are the events in NI

After some relatively good news on road racing in recent weeks, sadly the Ulster Grand Prix has been cancelled for fourth consecutive year

Our 25th anniversary essay today is by Mark Durkan who reflects on David Trimble's mercurial approach back then and other essays this week were by David Campbell and by Dermot Nesbitt and by Jim Allister and by Claire Sugden and by Canon Ian Ellis

Coming essays include from Bertie Ahern, Graham Gudgin, Brid Rodgers and Billy Hutchinson

If you scroll down this letter from Jeff Dudgeon, you will see a full range of links to the Gerry Adams compensation saga, and the uproar in high political and legal circles since the Supreme Court ruling in his favour, something the News Letter has followed closely

Meanwhile, Patrick Speight, who worked for the BBC, feels the recent documentary on Rev Ian Paisley was not hard enough on him

Here is my view that the lopsided coverage of the strikes never mentions lavish public sector pensions
