Library Mural by Liliana Stafford

Watch the children’s area of the Library be transformed by artist and illustrator Liliana Stafford as part of the Victoria Park Arts Season. Liliana will be working her magic for the entire month of April, so during your regular visits, stop a while and watch as she transforms our children's area into a magical, creative space.

Liliana is an award-winning artist, illustrator and writer. During her three years as an abstract artist, Liliana has won multiple awards for her paintings, adding to the accolades her twelve literary titles have collected.

Most recently Liliana’s painting Still Life was Highly Commended in the 2015 South Perth Emerging Artist Exhibition. Currently Liliana is working on a series of illustrated story books for children aged four to seven called The Garden Dwellers.

 Bullying Workshop with Adam Przytula

The Library is once again hosting Adam Przytula, Director of Armed For Life to run a special workshop on bullying to coincide with National Youth Week.

Thursday, 14 April
3.30 - 4.30pm
For youth aged nine - 17 years

National Youth Week is an annual celebration of the positive contributions of young people to Western Australia and includes events and celebrations for, and planned by youth. In 2016, National Youth Week will take place from 8-17 April.

The workshop will highlight the important issues in regards to bullying, why students bully others, the importance of bystanders getting involved and the different choices that victims have in these situations. Parents are welcome to attend with their children.

Armed For Life was created by Mr Przytula in 2012, and has worked with thousands of students at schools across Perth to educate and equip young people to deal with the many problems they will face in life. The team at Armed For Life offer encouragement and inspiration to young people to make positive choices for the future.

According to Mr Przytula, “bullying is a serious and often dangerous problem in our schools. Denying its existence is NOT the solution. One in four high school students are bullied every day, and this has a strong impact on students’ self-esteem, how involved they are in school work and even their success later in life.”

This is a free event and bookings are essential. Click here to book online.
