Indie Tactics by Emily Thompson Indie Tactics by Emily Thompson

The end of summer always makes me really sad. I love the heat, the sunshine, the bugs. I have super southern bones that love the summer, and chill in the winter.

Creatively, I know this is a season when I need to pay extra attention and put extra effort into creating. Because otherwise I'll just mope around, shivering, waiting for the sun to come back out.

This is the time of year that I have to dive heavily into making things, whether that's my business work (we're working on a new website for Being Boss!), or in my home. If I don't, there are consequences.

So, I've embarked on embracing the end of summer. It's a long, hard process for me, but gearing up intentional creativity helps me cope and sets me up for a productive fall and winter.

And my favorite part: exploring how my creativity has changed over the past year.

This year I'm diving into writing that's a little less business-focused (something I've done little of in almost a decade) and sewing. I'm following my interests with no particular destination in mind, just to keep warm and brave the winter to come. And see what magic comes from fueling my creative passions and interests.
