Good morning, and welcome to the Saints Insider newsletter for January 31. The Saints coaching and scouting staffs are in Mobile, Ala., for the Senior Bowl this week, and our coverage team is on site to track down as much information as possible from the annual college all-star game. They say the NFL Draft begins in Mobile, so we'll have plenty of draft stories along with other news as it develops. Here's what we have for you today: The search continues ...The search for a new offensive coordinator continues into its third week. Team officials have expanded their search to include a 10th candidate. They also scheduled a second interview with another candidate this week. Keep up with it all in our handy offensive coordinator tracker. A re-Pete experienceWhile the Saints search for a new coordinator, their old one has found a new home. And it's with a familiar face. In one of the least surprising developments of the day, Pete Carmichael is heading west to join Sean Payton's Denver Broncos staff. No white towelsCarmichael's departure comes one day after news broke that a key Saints personnel executive was heading to Denver to join the Broncos. The Saints, though, are not "throwing up the white towel" despite the NOLA-to-Denver pipeline, Matt Paras reports. Super connectionsColumnist Rod Walker surveyed the rosters and coaching staffs of the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers to determine how many Saints connections there will be in Super Bowl LVIII. Spoiler alert: There's not as many as you might think. Back to back invitesDemario Davis is going to the Pro Bowl for a second consecutive year. The veteran linebacker was named as a replacement for Fred Warner, who obviously can't make the game because of Super Bowl LVIII. That's it for today. We'll have more news and analysis this week as activities heat up at the Senior Bowl. Until next time ... Cheers, Jeff Duncan |
