Employers such as CoorsTek have started offering pay increases more than once a year to compete for talent and keep longtime employees on pace with higher starting salaries. "When the market is evolving in real-time and there really isn't a leading indicator other than what you're seeing to compete and hire, you quickly have to adjust," says Irma Lockridge, chief people officer for CoorsTek, which now conducts quarterly pay reviews.
Pay equity has become an important topic for companies, with 66% of organizations planning to analyze their compensation from an equity perspective this year, according to Payscale. A majority expect to specifically analyze either gender- or race-based pay equity data.
