Dear Friends,

Mark your calendars! Litquake will return in 2021 as a hybrid festival, with two-plus weeks of activity both in-person (outdoor and indoor) and online from October 7-23, 2021.

In partnership with Yerba Buena Community Benefit District, we will be hosting in-person events at the Museum of African Diaspora, 111 Minna, Contemporary Jewish Museum, California Historical Society, American Bookbinders Museum, Children’s Creativity Museum, and a whole weekend of BIPOC & LGBTQ-led events on the outdoor stage at Yerba Buena Gardens Esplanade. We’re also excited to announce returning partners like Grace Cathedral, Vesuvio Cafe, Hotel Emblem, and new partners like St. Joseph’s Arts Society.

We will also host virtual events throughout the festival, including virtual editions of Kidquake and Words Around the World, a program for works in translation we are excited to bring back after a year off.  All of this will culminate with an in-person Lit Crawl San Francisco on Saturday, October 23, 2021 throughout the Mission District.

Stay tuned for the announcement of this year's headliners, and the full schedule and ticket sales go live on September 7.

Although we know this remains a deeply uncertain and stressful time, Litquake is committed to your safety and will follow all health and safety guidelines. We’ll be updating you periodically as our understanding of the best protocols takes shape in the coming weeks. Whether you join us in-person or screen-to-screen, we are so excited to see you, hear from you, and build community around books and the power of storytelling with you.

Take care,
Team Litquake

Volunteer!
Nothing happens without our team of brilliant, talented, cunning, and good-lookin’ volunteers.

As a Litquake volunteer not only will you get to shepherd artists, measure the accuracy of your extra-sensory perception, test your organizational skills, lift heavy objects (either literally or figuratively), but you’ll brighten the lives of children, dogs, literary agents, bartenders, readers, and writers.

As noted above, we will be taking all necessary precautions to create a safe environment for all those involved in the festival—including our lovely volunteers!
THANK YOU TO THIS YEAR’S MAJOR SPONSORS!
