It’s almost here!
The festival is upon us. In less than one week we’re welcoming you to Litquake 2022. From the first bottle pop of the opening night party to the last moment of the Lit Crawl, we’ll be celebrating literature in every way we know how.

Calling all parents, nanny’s, babysitters, uncles, aunts, siblings, and anyone over the age of 18 that has a soft spot for kid lit! We have a few questions.
Do you want to support the future of literacy? Do you want to help Bay Area kids find joy in stories and learn about how fun words can be? Do you want to be part of workshops that teach young people about letter pressing and bookmaking? Do you want to hang out in a park for a couple hours next week? If you answered yes to any of these questions, than look no further. |

The Lit Crawl is our grand finale, our cherry on top of this literary sundae that we call Litquake. For four hours on Saturday, October 22 we encourage swarms of book lovers and writers of all sorts to come out to the Mission District for a chance to see as many free shows as one possibly can.
Want to help make it happen? Volunteer for one, two, or all three phases of the largest literary pub crawl there ever was.

Help kick off Litquake’s 23rd year at our first-ever Literary Night Market! Make your way to the Presidio, for three hours of bookish fun, food, and drink, at The Dairy, located next to the brand-new Tunnel Tops Park. Mingle with authors and other members of the lit scene. You can browse vendors like the Friends of the SF Public Library bookstore, or Groove Merchant’s vintage vinyl shop, savor complimentary beverages (alcoholic and non), munch your way through tasty treats from tons of local makers, and hear a reading from poet Preeti Vangani. |

Litquake is proud to showcase selected finalists from the first-ever BART short-fiction writing contest.
BART Lines shines a light on the voices that make the Bay Area unique, diverse, and creative. Finalists were selected by a panel of literary icons, including Daniel Handler, Ingrid Rojas Contreras, Ishmael Reed, JK Fowler, and Annalee Newitz.
Come to the Glen Park BART to hear these finalists read their work, and stick around for a special live musical performance. |
