Known for his work in television, theater, and film, Alan Alda is also a pioneer in the field of science communication. From his years as host of Scientific American Frontiers to his founding of the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science at Stonybrook University, he has worked tirelessly to communicate the mystery and marvels of science to all. For this work, Alda will receive the first Distinguished Kavli Science Communicator Award.
