| Chineke! Chamber Ensemble made its Australian debut this week at Adelaide Festival. Don't miss the ensemble's two concerts, recorded live by ABC Classic.
Founded by Chi-chi Nwanoku OBE, Chineke! Chamber Ensemble is part of the larger Chineke! orchestral family, the first majority black and ethnically diverse group in Europe.
For its Australian debut, Chineke! commissioned a new work from didgeridoo-player and Kalkadungu man, William Barton, and from Yorta-Yorta composer Deborah Cheetham, premiering both during the festival. Across two concerts the Chineke! performs Schubert and Prokofiev, alongside music by William Grant Still, Valerie Coleman, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, as well as the new commissions.
