A record number of desperate people are turning to foodbanks in Lancashire as the Covid pandemic puts an even tighter squeeze on family budgets.
View email online | | | | | | | | | Nov 6, 2020 | | | | | | | | Good evening The vast majority of us will have gone into this second lockdown with a feeling of stoicism.
We can’t do anything about it, we are protecting the NHS and we might as well just get on with it.
We will stick to our households or support bubbles, go out only for essential reasons and look forward to December 2 when we may get the green light to at least have a little more freedom than we have for most of November.
But we all know that there are those who will try to flout the rules. We’ve all seen the footage of illegal parties and raves and some of us will have got quite angry that little was done to stop the ‘final night before lockdown’ dancing in the streets.
So it was interesting to see that all of the five chief constables from the North West have got together to issue a warning to those who are thinking about ignoring the lockdown rules, with court appearances and heavy fines promised for the worst offenders.
Some may consider this heavy-handed. But if we are to come out of this lockdown with fewer cases and the chance of a Merry Christmas, this will be vital. They have made the threats, they just need to follow through. Do you agree or disagree?
