LOCKDOWN TOP-UP GRANTS ANNOUNCED

The Scottish Government has announced a significant top-up to the grant support will be available for hospitality, retail and leisure businesses across Scotland closed by level 4 restrictions.

In addition to the grants businesses receive through the Strategic Business Framework Fund, eligible businesses will also get a one-off grant.

NOTE: Eligible businesses that have already applied for the 4-weekly payment from the Strategic Framework Business Fund do not need to re-apply as they will automatically receive the top-up grant.

Lockdown Restrictions Tightened

The government has announced further measures to maximise the lockdown's impact, which will come into force this Saturday (16th January).

The measures include making working from home the default position, restricting click and collect to essential products and preventing people from entering the premises of takeaway outlets.

Helping to Warm Homes This Winter

A project which helps people struggling to heat their homes has become the first to receive a share of a £7 million fund to tackle fuel poverty this winter.

The £7 million for winter fuel is part of the £100 million winter support package announced by the First Minister in November. The remaining funding will be allocated to other projects which help to alleviate fuel poverty.

Following wide consultations between the two Governments, and substantial public engagement, the report sets out a series of joint actions to be taken.

With over forty recommendations across five thematic areas, the report will guide Ireland-Scotland collaboration over the coming five years.

Ductform Completes Major Scottish Projects

In recent months, Glenrothes-based Ductform HFE has been working on and completing several significant projects across the country. 
 
It has successfully completed the manufacture and installation of 2,766 metres of ductwork for the St Enoch Centre in Glasgow. Whilst working on the £40 million leisure development, which has added 30,000 sq ft to the Centre, Ductform also provided fire rated smoke clearance ductwork systems, to ensure the safety of Centre visitors.

More Teachers, Digital Devices and Support for Families.

A new package of £45 million will help local authorities to provide support to schools and families as they deal with the challenges of remote learning during lockdown.

Councils may use the funding – sufficient to fund 2,000 additional teachers - for purposes including recruitment of additional staff, additional digital devices or to provide additional family support.
