Wonderfully wintry things to do in London right now

London's lovely all year round, but it really shines in December — and not just because of all these dazzling illuminations. From ice rinks outside Somerset House and Hampton Court Palace to rooftop igloos and après-ski-inspired pop ups, the capital is a veritable winter wonderland right now.

For those of you seeking refuge from the cold (we've already had our first snowfall of the season), we've rounded up our favourite London pubs with roaring fireplaces, as well as the best places to pick up a cockle-warming hot chocolate. Indoor entertainment can be found in the form of a festive film screening or theatre show. Plus there's a flurry of a fantastic exhibitions for anyone after something non-Christmassy to keep them occupied.

On top of all that, there are Christmas markets, volunteering ops, and carol concerts galore. You can find even more things to do in our December guide, which includes a nice mix of festive and completely unfestive — but nevertheless excellent — events. Click below to read it.
