Look out for our CANSA Active stand at the Expo (DHL Cape Town Stadium), alongside Sanlam, from 13 – 15 October. The Expo will display our exciting and affordable CANSA Active merchandise and Ocean Freedom sunscreen, a SunSmart choice which recently was awarded the CANSA Seal of Recognition in the protection category, will also be available. CANSA is thrilled to be manning a hydration station (Albion & Campground Road in Rondebosch). Look out for our bright, enthusiastic CANSA Active volunteers. I am looking forward to a successful event. I expect that it will be a well organized event and that it will be well attended. After all CTM is a global event and runners come from all over the world to take part.What are you hoping to achieve from this event? I am hoping to make CANSA known to people. To add value to this event. By taking part we are putting our city on the map. It already has Diamond status so we are getting closer to the goal of achieving the highest status in road running.Why will you be running for CANSA? CANSA does so much for people with cancer and they need our support to support more patients. I want to do my part in fighting cancer. Cancer effects every single person. We all know someone who is struggling with or overcame cancer. So doing my part and being part of CANSA brings me great joy.What does the organisation mean to you? It means a lot to me, because we are all affected by cancer in one way or the other. CANSA reaches out to anyone who’s affected by cancer. Four events.What do you enjoy about these events? Besides fundraising for CANSA and creating awareness, there is a wonderful “gees” or spirit at the event. What are your expectations for the event? I want to have fun, while keeping fit and raise funds.What are you hoping to achieve from this event? To raise funds to support CANSA’s service to people affected by cancer.Why will you be running for CANSA? Raise awareness for CANSA, in honour of family and friends who have passed, are currently fighting cancer, and for the Survivors.What does the organisation mean to you? CANSA does amazing work to assist patients and families dealing with cancer. They offer so much, from clinics to counselling and even CANSA Care Homes. I have been involved in a few events, through a close friend, Leillani Gedult, and am just amazed at what they do. There are many charities, but CANSA is very dear to my heart and I will continue to raise funds for them through running, for as long as I can. A good run and running route.What are you hoping to achieve from this event? As this is my first real 10km race since COVID, I am looking forward to so many things.Why will you be running for CANSA? It is a very worthy cause, as I have lost family members and friends to this disease.What does the organisation mean to you? Its pure determination to help at any cost those stricken with cancer, is something that is truly comforting. it is indeed an honour to run for and represent CANSA! I will be competing in the 22km open male category.How many Sanlam Cape Town Marathon’s have you competed in? This would be my first one that I will be participating in, however last year I was cheering at the CRRC cheer zone, they always bring a great support and cheer crew.What do you enjoy about these events? I love the authentic atmosphere that these events bring and most importantly, I love the cheer vibes. As they say, if you are not running, you are cheering.What are your expectations for the event? I would love to go out there and have fun trying to run a consistent race, but also take in and enjoy the vibes around me.What are you hoping to achieve from this event? As I am an ambassador for CANSA, I would appreciate it if anyone out there would make a donation to CANSA. Even if it’s a small amount.Why will you be running for CANSA? I’ve been doing charity runs for CANSA in the last 2 years, raising R25 000 for the CANSA Tygerberg Care Home, as well as collecting R40 000 worth of essential items for the CANSA Eikehof Care Home. It is very close to my heart as I’ve lost handful of family members to Cancer within a space of 2 – 3 weeks. I am bringing bringing my passion for running as well as my passion for making a difference together. Someone really close to me who has honestly been the pillar of strength in my life for the last 7 years and made it possible for me to continue to be active, putting my body under immence strain and literally getting back out there, has recently been diagnosed with lymph cancer.What does the organisation mean to you? As I mentioned above it very close to my heart and seeing people suffer without having the opportunity to fight it pains me. So being able to do what I love and try and make a difference so that everyone has the opportunity to beat the cancer, is important to me.
