Continuing from where they left off yesterday, Lorena Wiebes and Team DSM made it back to back wins at the Women's Tour this afternoon thanks to a committed late chase and brilliant lead out, all of which were rounded off impeccably with a powerful sprint finish.
Undulating terrain awaited the peloton today at the Women's Tour with some tough climbs potentially acting as a launchpad for those looking to stop the sprinters. The team started the stage with confidence, guided by local rider Pfeiffer Georgi, aiming to get over the climbs in a group and set up a fast finale. As expected, the climbers set a fierce pace and split the bunch but the team stuck together superbly and committed fully to a chase, eventually bringing Wiebes back into contention inside the last ten kilometres. Heading into the finale Megan Jastrab kept Georgi and Wiebes in a good position before the British champion took over, piloting Wiebes brilliantly through the final kilometre. Swinging off with the line in sight, Georgi left Wiebes with only open road in front of her, who then duly delivered once again with a commanding sprint victory; moving into the race lead ahead of tomorrow's hilly stage.
