Hey LA, This week we highlight some MOCA programming, as the museum reopened this month. Also, LACMA just reinstalled its modern art collection and there are some gems worth visiting, like Frida Kahlo’s weeping coconuts and Michael C. McMillen’s wild, immersive garage installation, which hasn’t been on view at the museum in 20 years. In other news, the Orange County Museum of Art announced on Monday that it will be officially opening its new building in October 2022. (More about the design of the building, by Morphosis Architects, here.) The museum will open with the return of the California Biennial, which ran from 1984 to 2010. It’ll be curated by Elizabeth Armstrong, Essence Harden, and Gilbert Vicario. We’re looking forward to seeing the lineup.— Elisa Wouk Almino, Senior Editor | |
