Your list of must-see, fun, insightful, and very Los Angeles art events this month, including Lee Alexander McQueen, Troy Montes-Michie, and more. | Caroline Ellen Liou There’s a bit of a common thread running through this month’s list of exhibitions in Los Angeles, drawing upon the craft and conceptual history of textiles, costume, and fashion design to express new ideas around self-fashioning. There are also plenty of shows that are decidedly not about any of those things, from sound art by Latinx artists to photographs documenting the effects of the Cold War. “Kalli” means home in Nahuatl, and that theme guides much of the work by Adriana Carranza and Alfonso Aceves’s Kalli Arte Collective. | Eva Recinos Husband-and-wife artists Adriana Carranza and Alfonso Aceves used to make art at their dining room table. In 2021, the duo, known as Kalli Arte Collective, found a studio, but many of their creative goals were on hold because of COVID-19. Now, they have settled into Self Help Graphics as part of the Beyond the Press artist-in-residence program.
