Lost postal keys lead to mail theft

A nationwide rise in mail thefts comes two years after a federal audit criticized the U.S. Postal Service for failing to adequately protect mailbox keys — one of which was stolen in Louisiana's capital region, leading to a crime wave in and around Baton Rouge. Elyse Carmosino, who's been covering the issue of mail thefts for the better part of the past month, breaks down the audit's findings. 


Boyfriend arrested in killing of young mom, toddler

The bodies of a mother and her 2-year-old son were found separately in Baton Rouge and Central on Monday, and the woman's boyfriend was arrested in their deaths. Here's what BRPD told us about the deaths, which made headlines after an especially violent weekend. 


'This is what Irish people miss the most

As we head into St. Paddy's Day, our features editor profiled an Irish chef in Lafayette who began making traditional Irish sausage to satisfy his craving for the kind of hearty breakfasts he grew up on in his homeland.
