Louisiana Democrats rally behind Kamala Harris

LA Democrats: Louisiana Democrats reacted with relief to Joe Biden's move to his end his reelection bid, Tyler Bridges and Alyse Pfeil report. The Louisiana Democratic delegation has also endorsed Kamala Harris for president, James Finn reports. 


Republican lawsuits?: U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson suggested that the GOP could sue over Biden's withdrawal from the race, Finn reports. Republicans could argue that the withdrawal clashes with state ballot rules, though election law experts have been skeptical it would.


Absentee ballots: Big changes to Louisiana's absentee ballot rules may make it tougher to vote by mail ahead of this year's presidential election, Meghan Friedmann reports. Read about the changes, the state's reasoning and the criticism of its move.

A federal grand jury has filed eight charges against former New Orleans Police Department officer Jeffrey Vappie

Vappie is accused of reporting fraudulent work hours on seven paychecks, pocketing $7K in excess funds  and engaging in a romantic relationship with Mayor LaToya Cantrell
