Louisiana doesn't do tolls much. Should it?

with Matthew Albright | Assistant metro editor

Hello! Check out some of our top reads from yesterday:

Toll time?

If you've spent much time driving on the East Coast, you and your wallet will notice how many of the roads and bridges up there are paid for with tolls. Louisiana? Not so much.

But with all the hubbub over a possible new Mississippi River Bridge for Baton Rouge, some people think it's time for that to change. This story looks at why — and why some want to nip any toll talk in the bud.

Swelling suburbs

The area southeast of Baton Rouge is one of the fastest growing in Louisiana, and some people who live there are starting to say: enough is enough.

We reported recently about how Ascension Parish is putting new restrictions on big developments. Now Livingston Parish is talking about tightening it's own rules, as potential plans circulate for a new 711-lot subdivision.

Food news

COVID shut down Juban's Creole restaurant for two years, but now the Baton Rouge mainstay is back. Here's how it'll be different.

Also, check out this review of Spoke and Hub, a delightfully funky new restaurant on Government Street.

Thanks for reading, and have a great day.
