Louisiana jails have no uniform rules, report finds

BY JESSICA WILLIAMS | Capitol News Bureau Editor

Jail report: A new report finds that Louisiana has no single set of rules for its many jails, and the rules that are in place fail to ensure safe living conditions for inmates, Meghan Friedmann reports. Gov.-elect Jeff Landry's transition team is reviewing the report.

Vape ban: Smoke shop owners across Louisiana say a new vape ban has forced them to pull nearly all disposable vapes from their shelves and has cut their revenue in half in some cases, Friedmann reports.

Voting rights: As he fights a judge's ruling that Louisiana must change its congressional district maps to account for its Black population, Landry is pointing to a separate ruling that NAACP and similar groups have no right to sue over those maps, James Finn reports.
