New EPA rule would curb pollution from chemical plants

EPA rule: A new Environmental Protection Agency rule would force Louisiana chemical plants to limit pollution to reduce residents' cancer risks, Mark Schleifstein reports. The petrochemical industry and Attorney General Liz Murrill oppose it. 


Immigration bill moves: The Louisiana Senate has backed a bill to require local police to detain immigrants who enter the country illegally, throwing Louisiana into a fight Texas and other states are having with the Biden administration, James Finn reports. 


LGBTQ+ bill moves: A state House panel waded into a national debate Monday by advancing a bill that would bar transgender people from using bathrooms and other spaces that align with their gender identity, Meghan Friedmann reports. Domestic violence shelters say the bill could imperil their funding.
