Welcome to another week, friends. Hope your weekend was great. Let's get to what's happening at the Nola.com nerve center. La. politicos in a Trump cabinet: The names of some prominent Louisiana officials, past and present, have floated to the surface in talks about who might wind up in President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet. Very prominent names, as Mark Ballard reports. Headed for a slowdown: Look for some of the construction to slow across the city over the coming months. Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s administration has announced a three-month halt on major construction projects downtown as the holidays, Super Bowl and Mardi Gras loom, Joni Hess reports. Gov. Landry’s tax plan: A multitude of new items would be subject to sales taxes under the plan that Gov. Jeff Landry is pushing to the Legislature. State politics reporter Alyse Pfeil tells us how those new taxes would balance out with other tax cuts in Landry’s plan. At last! A Saints win: For the first time in eight games, the Saints brought home a victory. Columnist Jeff Duncan tells us why this win against the Falcons came at just the right time for our battered Black & Gold psyches. (And you can find lots more Saints headlines on our Saints page at Nola.com) Did you get this newsletter forwarded from someone else? Sign up here.
