Louisiana politicians react to Donald Trump assassination attempt

Trump assassination attempt: Louisiana politicians this weekend offered prayers and support for former President Donald Trump, who was shot at a rally in Pennsylvania Saturday, Gabriella Killett and Chad Calder report. 


Republican National Convention: The GOP convention in Milwaukee is opening Monday as planned despite the attempt on Trump's life, Mark Ballard reports. U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson of Benton, who is chairing the convention, has called for calm. 


Trump VP?: Trump plans to announce his vice-president on Monday in Milwaukee at the GOP convention, he told FOX News in a call. Meanwhile, the Secret Service faces questions about how a gunman was able to get within 164 yards of the former president on Saturday.
