Louisiana's fight against Black voting districts has been costly

BY JESSICA WILLIAMS | Capitol News Bureau Editor

Redistricting fight: Louisiana's legal fight against adding new Black voting districts has proven expensive, Meghan Friedmann and James Finn report. Outside attorneys well-versed in Republican redistricting battles across the U.S. have charged Louisiana millions of dollars.

Landry and the Supreme Court: Gov. Jeff Landry is backing a Supreme Court justice as the next leader of Northwestern State, while his ally, Attorney General Liz Murrill, is backing a conservative lawyer to replace that justice, Tyler Bridges reports. The moves showcase Landry's growing influence on university politics and his wield of that influence to support his other goals.

Landry and the EPA: Landry vowed this week to challenge federal restrictions on pollution emitted from Denka in LaPlace and other chemical plants, David Mitchell reports. The governor said the restrictions will hurt jobs. Advocates say the rules are needed to curb LaPlace's high cancer rates.
