Lawsuit challenges Louisiana's new Black-majority district

BY JESSICA WILLIAMS | Capitol News Bureau Editor

New redistricting lawsuit: Twelve "non-African American" voters have sued over Louisiana's new congressional district map, calling it a "racial gerrymander," Meghan Friedmann reports. Federal courts ordered the state to create a new map earlier this year after Black voters sued over the old one.

Transition reports: A committee tapped to guide Gov. Jeff Landry's administration has recommended that the state remove provisions from its constitution that prevent K-12 school spending cuts and several other changes, Tyler Bridges reports.

OJJ head out: The head of the Office of Juvenile Justice, Otha "Curtis" Nelson, will no longer serve in that role under Landry, Friedmann reports. A source familiar with Landry's plans said Nelson is on his way out.
