Louisiana students to spend less time on state testing this year

Each spring in Louisiana, students spend several hours over multiple days taking the state's LEAP tests. Many parents and educators argue the tests cause undue stress and take away from actual learning.

This year, the English and math tests will be condensed, saving valuable time for learning.

“I don't think we'll hear many complaints from parents or kids or teachers about reducing time on testing,” state Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley said.
