New 360-acre Northern Michigan riverfront nature preserve now open to public

What a gift.  Michigan nature lovers have a new spot to explore in Northern Michigan.

The non-profit Little Traverse Conservancy recently dedicated the new L. John & Helen Bishop Working Forest Reserve, a 360-acre preserve in Cheboygan County that includes nearly 1.5 miles of the Little Pigeon River. It's not every day that the public gets such a large, beautiful area to explore. 

Is it even possible to name the best Great Lake?

It's Lovable Michigan, so we're not going to say which is the obvious worst Great Lake for swimming. BUT, we can all agree that it's next to impossible to name the greatest Great Lake. USA Today though, it has ranked Lake Superior above all others. I guess it is right there in the name. USA Today must prefer an icy dunk.

You like birds? We love birds. Wanna see cool birds? We wanna see cool birds. And we went to Beaver Island recently. Beaver Island is paradise for Great Lakes birdwatching!

Short's Bellaire Beer Garden is now open seven days a week and it is beautiful. The lighted, open space features food like Oaxacan fare from Osorios Tacos y Salsa and buttery popcorn, as well as live music on the weekends.
