Beloved trail that crosses Michigan now a National Park

The North Country National Scenic Trail has become one of the country’s newest national parks, according to an announcement by the National Park Service.

The North Country Trail, or NCT, spans 11 states from North Dakota to Vermont for a total of 4,800 miles. But did you know Michigan is home to the most NCT miles of any state, including crossing the Mackinac Bridge?

Beaver Island's ferry update

A new ferry that will transport people and vehicles between Michigan’s mainland and the largest island in Lake Michigan could be ready for passengers by summer 2027, officials said. A new Beaver Island ferry has been in the works for more than 10 years, but recently gained state and federal funding totaling $32.2 million.
