An unbelievable before and after

The restoration of Michigan Central Station’s ground floor is nearly complete, and the crown jewel of Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood is scheduled to re-open to the public today. When the building opened in 1913, it was the tallest train station in the world. After its closure in 1988, the building suffered more than three decades of neglect that saw important architectural features begin to crumble and deteriorate from water damage. Ford Motor Company bought the building in 2018 and since then has poured nearly a billion dollars into restoring the station to its former majesty.

A Michigan must-visit

One could spend an entire vacation exploring the treasures of Keweenaw National Historical Park and still not see them all. Think riverside hiking trails, ghost towns, century-old Lake Superior lighthouses, state parks, historic mines, a mineral museum, and a grand old opera house, too. It truly is a multi-faceted gem.

Glamp in a ‘disco dome’

Billed as something out of a pulp sci-fi magazine, “disco domes” are opening near Lake Michigan this summer. Located in South Haven, DayDreamer Domes from Chillville Collective promises an other-worldly visit for those who stop by for a few hours or stay the night.
