Only one creature loves sugar more than the human child: The hummingbird. And it’s time to set out the sugar-water feeders: Michigan’s ruby-throated hummingbirds are back. Since late winter these tiny, mighty, jewel-toned birds have been zipping their way northward from their wintering grounds in Central America to their summer homes across the eastern U.S. and Canada. For a few weeks now they’ve been slowly trickling into Michigan, with sightings across the southern portions of the state so far. |
