How to visit Michigan’s 6 national parks for free

Michigan’s six national parks – and all national parks across the country – will offer free admission on Saturday, April 20, to kick off National Park Week. National Park Week 2024 is scheduled for Saturday, April 20, to Sunday, April 28. Programs are planned throughout the more than 400 national parks, including the six in Michigan. Each day of National Park Week has a theme to showcase ways to experience, learn, or get involved with national parks. Tap the box below for a breakdown of the nine-day celebration.

Pieces of the Mackinac Bridge are now a part of two South Pole markers. A circular piece cut out of a small section of original Mackinac Bridge deck grating is part of the ceremonial marker, more than 9,000 miles south of the bridge. Another piece is part of the geographical marker.
