LSU gym recruit goes for the gold

LSU gymnastics fans can look forward to Kaliya Lincoln competing for their Tigers in 2025 as they try to repeat as NCAA champions.

Before that, the two-time Pan American Games gold medalist hopes to compete for another team. The U.S. team in next month's Paris Olympics.

Lincoln competes this weekend in the U.S. Olympic Trials in Minneapolis. Sixteen female gymnasts are there and only five spots are available. One of them is certainly going to former gold medalist and reigning U.S. all-around champoin Seimone Biles, so it's a battle among 15 for four spots.

You'd have to list Lincoln as something of a rank outsider, but her chances were perhaps enhanced Wednesday when Florida signee Skye Blakely went down with an unspecified leg injury in practice. Blakely was considered a strong favorite to represent the red, white and blue in Paris.

You can catch the trials on NBC, USA and Peacock.

Meanwhile a current LSU gymnastics star, NCAA all-around champion Haleigh Bryant, has been nominated for two ESPY awards. Find out which ones right here.

LSU baseball coach Jay Johnson isn't going to Texas as some speculated (the Longhorns hired Texas A&M's Jim Schlossnagle) but one of his staffers, director of operations Brent Haring is. He's leaving to be the head coach at Nicholls State

You can't keep up with all the LSU baseball player comings and goings without consulting the transfer portal that our Koki Riley came up with. Click here and amaze friends, family and random passers by with your baseball knowledge.

That's all for today folks. We'll catch you this weekend,

Scott Rabalais
