A judge has temporarily blocked Baton Rouge's big plan to privatize its sewer system. One of the companies that put in a bid for the project — which could be worth more than $100 million — has sued, claiming city officials unfairly short-circuited the process.

Here's what that could mean for the city — and for taxpayers. 


As congregations leave the United Methodist Church, some pastors filed a lawsuit claiming church leaders were not pushing hard enough to claim millions of dollars worth of property. But a judge dismissed the suit, saying it was not up to a court to decide the issue.
