When someone battling drug addiction decides they need help, experts say it's essential that they be able to get it right away — any day, any time. But in many Louisiana communities, there are some times when patients just can't get connected to treatment.

Tunney King's been competing at the famed Jambalaya Festival cookoff in Gonzales for at least 25 years. His son Austin has been in it for 12, normally as Tunney's helper. 

This year, Austin competed as a cook for the first time. And, after three fierce rounds of competition, he was named the "World Jambalaya Champion."
