Happy holidays, everyone. How's your shopping going? Mine is off to a typically slow start, but I'm sure it will all come together by Christmas eve. The LSU Tigers are in a giving/shopping mode as well. December has become a critical time with a high school recruiting early period and the transfer portal. A year ago, Brian Kelly and his first LSU staff just needed warm bodies to fill all those holes in the roster. Now the Tigers can afford to be a little more targeted and selective. But how targeted? Our Wilson Alexander writes about the four positions of need for LSU in the transfer portal. As with most schools, players are leaving via the portal faster and much more publicly than they're coming in right now. The latest player to enter is veteran backup tackle Cam Wire, who only played in four games in 2022. A week ago Saturday, the LSU football team was in Atlanta to face Georgia in the SEC Championship Game. This Saturday, it's the men's basketball team's turn, as the Tigers take on Wake Forest at 1 p.m. in State Farm Arena, just a couple of Kayshon Boutte post patterns east of Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Meanwhile, the LSU women's basketball team is going to have to wait a bit longer for its next game. Sunday's game with UNO has been canceled because of Covid-19 issues on the UNO team. The next game for the No. 11-ranked Tigers will now be Wednesday against Lamar. And, finally, a bit of baseball news. The LSU Board of Supervisors met Friday and approved a contract for new baseball assistant coach Josh Jordan. My, there is a lot of J-class alliteration for Jay Johnson's staff. That's all we have for you today, folks. Thanks for subscribing and make it a great weekend. Scott Rabalais |
