Led by senior guard Khayla Pointer, LSU women's basketball clinched a share of second place in the Southeastern Conference with a 58-50 win Thursday night over Alabama. Pointer, who scored 23 points, bounced back from her worst game of the season and moved up to No. 2 all-time in assists. The Tigers play their regular season finale Sunday at Tennessee, but that definitely won't be the last game of the year. What a start for Kim Mulkey, huh? LSU men's basketball will also being in the postseason despite the loss to Kentucky this week. Here are the latest projections for the NCAA tournament. We're a month from spring practice, but we have some football updates for you as well after talking to the offensive staff Thursday. For starters, offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock will call plays as Brian Kelly continues to delegate the responsibility at this point in his career. Kelly used to call plays for his teams. Denbrock didn't reveal the exact scheme LSU will use, saying it's "a work in progress" and he needs to see the personnel throughout spring practice. His offense won't change too much from how it looked at Cincinnati, though. He wants to be multiple. Lastly, two features for you ahead of the gymnastics meet and baseball games this weekend. As our Reed Darcey — an LSU student! — detailed here, freshman KJ Johnson has quite the story. She drives a muscle car, has titanium rods in both legs and likes to lift weights in her free time. Then there's Brayden Jobert, so far the leading hitter for LSU. Jobert, who honors his late grandmother by writing "G" in the dirt before every at-bat, is delivering right now.
