Lufthansa CEO expects rise in growth, competition; unveils new livery

Lufthansa will focus on further developing its premium carriers, but expects strong competition in Germany, CEO Carsten Spohr said, revealing a new, modernized brand image for the German carrier that drops the gray from the underside and engines as well as the yellow circle behind the company’s 100-year-old crane logo on the tail for a purely blue-and-white exterior.

Boeing has firmed configuration of the 230-seat stretch of the 737 MAX family of narrowbodies, the MAX 10, which was launched at the Paris Air Show in June.

Thai regional carrier Bangkok Airways ordered four ATR 72-600s Feb. 7, making the French-Italian turboprop manufacturer the only company to score a new commercial aircraft order at the 2018 Singapore Air Show to date.


Spirit to settle labor issues after posting $421 million 2017 profit

Fort Lauderdale-based ultra-LCC Spirit Airlines posted a $420.6 million net profit for 2017, a 58.8% increase over a $264.9 million net income in 2016. Spirit cited a one-time, non-cash $199.3 million tax credit courtesy of the late 2017 US tax reform legislation, as part of the reason for the increase.

Bombardier and Airbus could have a final assembly line in the US up and running within a year of a go-ahead, but it remains undecided whether the CSeries jets ordered by Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines will be produced there, or in Canada, a senior Bombardier executive said.
