MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) review: the best gets even better
Apple’s refreshed MacBook Pro is available now
In its hands-on review of the MacBook Pro with the M4 Pro chip, Digital Trends gave it an impressive 4.5/5 rating, claiming that Apple’s high-end laptop “has never been better.” Improvements include the latest M4 Pro chip for record-breaking performance, an even brighter display, and a “fantastic” 12MP webcam (up from 1080p). The speaker system continues to offer audio that's “louder, bolder, and bassier than many Bluetooth speakers,” while the keyboard and trackpad are described as “best in class.” Additionally, the base model now comes with 16GB of memory, up from 8GB. There weren’t many disappointments, though the 16-inch model felt a little heavy at 4.7 pounds (2.1 kilograms) ... |

There’s new evidence that Samsung is making a Galaxy S25 Slim
It would take on another rumored device in the form of Apple's upcoming — though unconfirmed — iPhone 17 'Slim'
Many smartphones are already pretty thin, but it seems as if the likes of Samsung and Apple want to go even thinner. Following similar reports about a possible "iPhone 17 Slim" coming in 2025, we now hear that Samsung, too, is working on an ultra-thin version of its upcoming Galaxy S25 flagship that could also launch next year. Reports of a thinner Galaxy phone come from Smartprix, which said it's seen evidence suggesting that a fourth Galaxy S25 could launch alongside the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. In October, Korea’s ETNews also reported that Samsung is expected to launch a slim smartphone next year ... |

Max is about to begin its password-sharing crackdown |
It follows similar action by Netflix and Disney+ |
It’s getting harder to dodge password sharing crackdowns as Max becomes the latest streaming service to announce such a move. Max-owner Warner Bros. Discovery warned earlier this year that it's planning to act, but it was vague about timing. Now the company has said the process will start before the end of this year with “very soft messaging” that will see it “asking members who have not signed up, or multi-household members, to pay a little bit more.” It hinted that it will ramp up efforts next year, but hasn't said precisely how it will go about preventing non-members from getting a free pass ... |

Two new movies challenge Venom for weekend box office crown
Heretic, starring Hugh Grant, is one of the new films eyeing the top spot
Venom: The Last Dance has topped the North American box office for the last few weeks, but two newcomers could finally knock it from its perch: psychological horror Heretic and comedy-drama The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, based on Barbara Robinson’s classic 1972 children’s book. Superhero action-adventure Venom is forecast to rake in between $12 million and $16 million this weekend, while both Heretic and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever are each expected to earn between $8 million and $12 million, according to Boxoffice Pro. Both newcomers are picking up some decent early reviews, so only a brave soul would put money on which of the three movies will win the weekend ... |

Mario & Luigi: Brothership launched on Thursday, and it comes with some special challenges to try
Nintendo's Mario & Luigi: Brothership isn't so difficult by itself, but it does offer special challenges that are a little trickier to complete in exchange for rewards, Digital Trends reported. These more demanding in-game challenges are optional, but they reward you with some very precious upgrade materials that make them worth the effort.
