Plus, Texas grid flirts with blackouts amid heatwave

Powered by ACRT Services, Arborcision is a dynamic system intelligence solution utilities need to accelerate vegetation management ROI.

Leveraging your existing system data, Arborcision identifies opportunities on your system that you can act on:
• Identify high-risk, high-cost needs and build plans to mitigate them.
• Adjust program budgets to maximize impact and reduce future demands.
• Prioritize, forecast, and clarify cost drivers.

Massachusetts’ clean peak incentive puts battery storage project on track

Managing peak demand is becoming increasingly difficult. Just ask Texas. ERCOT called for voluntary conservation almost a dozen times in the past few weeks and advanced into emergency conditions on September 6. Battery storage could provide some relief. In Massachusetts a “clean peak incentive” is driving the development of a 45-MW storage facility on land that formerly housed a coal-fired power plant. It’s a model that could be replicated elsewhere but utilities and regulators need to get the incentive right. Learn more in our lead story today.

ERCOT's conservation request carried fresh urgency, coming the day after the system was pushed to the brink of outages for the first time since a deadly winter blackout in 2021.

The knowledge gained from these prizes is meant to help reduce technology gaps that hinder HVDC deployment in the nation and enable new solutions to technical challenges through the development of new hardware, controls, and concepts.
The third phase of a larger 64-mile project, the rebuilt 138-Kv line is meant to enhance service reliability, improve system resiliency, and accommodate increasing customer demand for electricity in the future.
