A panel of Minnesota judges will roll out new political maps, likely this coming Tuesday, that will shape Minnesota elections for the next decade. MPR News data reporter David Montgomery shares the proposed redistricting maps and where votes from your household would count under each proposal.

Latino businesses 'hanging in there' despite pandemic and unrest | Latino entrepreneurs continue facing challenges as they work to keep their businesses open as the pandemic stretches into a third year. Although the federal government made help available, many Latino business owners didn’t receive it.
Karla Castro, who runs a Central American market, Autentica Centro Ameircana, in Oakdale, is one of them. She said she didn’t make an effort to apply, basing her decision on what she had heard.
A December 2020 report found Latino businesses weren’t accessing programs like the Paycheck Protection Plan. It said that only 45 percent of Latino firms reported benefitting from the program. In the meantime 28 percent of Latino-owned businesses faced a reduction in available supplies in the early months of COVID, the report says.

Cops were trained to intervene but didn't, testifies the most senior MPD officer. Lt. Richard Zimmerman, who heads up the city’s homicide unit, told the court that the three former officers in the federal trial did not follow department policies when they failed to intervene with Derek Chauvin, and that they failed to provide medical aid, which they were trained to do. Testimony continues today.
A Minneapolis council member wants to establish a new department of public safety -- this time, without abolishing MPD.Council member Elliott Payne says he wants the new department while keeping the current Police Department in place without putting the measure to a public vote. A recently released study of Minneapolis police staffing found that MPD could free up more officers by using alternative responders for certain calls.
