If you feel your MacBook battery drains too fast, there is probably something you can do about it. First check out a graph that shows you the battery drain over time. Then use various techniques to figure out which app is the problem. You can even figure out if it is a specific web site you are visiting that is causing the issue.

You can use the &UDM=14 trick to see Google search results with fewer ads and no special features like maps or AI. But it can be hard to apply, especially in Safari. An easier way is to just select Web-only results in the page menu, or start from a third-party site.

My 2021 Shortcut that allows you to capture text from any part of the screen isn't working in macOS 14.5 as there seems to be a bug in Shortcuts concerning screen capture. Here's a temporary work-around until Apple fixes the bug.
