| | | | | |  | | | | Sound, music and video © Matthieu Samadet / Goodbye Bucephale | | | | | | On the occasion of the Magnum Analog Recovery exhibition, an historic journey through the Magnum archives from the first 30 years of the agency, LE BAL self-publishes an unconventional and outstanding book-object in limited edition. Far from a traditional catalogue, this publication reproduces an archive binder and displays 231 vintage iconic pictures from the 20th century as well as unknown images from Henri Cartier-Bresson, Eve Arnold, René Burri, Elliott Erwitt, Alex Webb and Gilles Peress. These series unfold on 232 black and white pages, large posters and are accompanied by written notes from the photographers. Texts and quotations from the photographers (notes, extracts from correspondence of recorded conversations) punctuate the sequence and call to mind the approaches to photography to be found at the heart of Magnum, approaches that can sometimes be contradictory.

After a workshop with Max Pinckers and book signings with Peter Van Agtmael and Jacob Aue Sobol, LE BAL Books invites the Magnum member photographers Bruno Barbey and Susan Meiselas for a signing at LE BAL. Bruno Barbey signed his last monograph "Passages" Saturday, May 20 and Susan Meiselas will join us Tuesday May 23 to sign her last project, "A room of their own" which will be officially launched this week at Photo London. | | | | | | unsubscribe here
