• A former Google executive and aide to former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger who grew up in Arundel filed on Wednesday for the Democratic primary in 2020 for the seat held by U.S. Sen. Susan Collins.
  
  Ross LaJeunesse joins House Speaker Sara Gideon, lobbyist Betsy Sweet and Saco lawyer Bre Kidman as the Democrats running active primary campaigns against Collins, who has become a top Democratic target after her October 2018 vote for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

• It wasn’t until the mid-20th century that women started getting elected to the nine-person Bangor City Council, and never have more than four women served at the same time, according to city records — until now.

• Ryan Bjorn worked summers at two Bangor-area golf courses. That experience helped him become the field superintendent for the New England Patriots, where he tends to the practice fields and turf at Gillette Stadium while his pup Boyd keeps Canada geese at bay.

• At least four Maine municipalities passed rules governing recreational marijuana on Tuesday as the state moves toward allowing the first sales under the program in the spring. But Bridgton, Rangeley and Holden rejected sets of rules, signaling concern about regulatory and enforcement issues that go along with opting in.

• Last year, about 30 people participated in the One Night Without a Home sleep out. Some slept in tents, some in their cars, some with just a tarp over them. Not everyone made it through the night, but it proved a point: life’s not easy when you’re living without permanent shelter.

• The lawsuit is the latest in a series of accusations at Maine colleges that have alleged Title IX provisions are not being enforced on campuses. The federal law Title IX requires schools funded with federal dollars to act if they know, or reasonably should know, of harassment that creates a hostile environment.
