Lots of folks in Maine are likely familiar with the Feztival of Trees events that Shriners around the state hold each holiday season. The idea is clever enough for students at Orono High School to do their own fundraiser inspired by it. Instead of trees, however, people can purchase raffle tickets to bid on one of many different Easter baskets filled with goodies from local businesses and organizations. At the end of the fundraiser, the tickets will be drawn and winners will be named for each of the 36 baskets. The event is set for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the school’s cafe, and proceeds benefit the activities of the classes of 2024, 2026 and 2027.
