Hi John,

Did you know that I grew up in Southern California, not too far from Disneyland? One year my parents invested in off-season passes and we spent every chance we could at the park. I most loved visiting on rainy days when we could ride Pirates of the Caribbean over and over without waiting in line.

The Disney fan-girl in me has been enthusiastically working behind the scenes on a science-related art project in conjunction with Disney Studios for today's relase of the Aladdin Signature Collection on Digital and Blu-ray™.

We were tasked with coming up a science activity based on a flying carpet. Make something fly? Um, no problem ;) After a little tinkering, my daughter and I created a fun magnet-based project to build your very own magic flying carpet, and it's awesome. The tutorial comes with a flying carpet template (color one in or design you own) and a video.

In that spirit, I did a quick roundup of a few other STEAM-related projects that you may like to try with your little inventor.
