New district boundaries for the Minnesota Legislature created dozens of incumbent pairings where one member is drawn into the same district as another. In the Senate, many of those pairings involve women.

Former Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch says that’s unfortunate given that there are far more men than women in the Legislature to begin with. She says it adds importance to finding more women to run.

Four of seven GOP women in the Senate are paired, and one other isn’t running again. DFL Senate Minority Leader Melisa López Franzen was paired with colleague Ron Latz.

Truckers protesting in Canada end last U.S. border blockade
