Hi Achternaam,

Our state has been dealing with wildfires recently. I read yesterday that one of the fires is the second-largest wildfire in our state history. We're not in any danger from the fires, but we are dealing with smoke and ash. Normally, you can see mountains behind my backyard, but you can't even see them now and everything is covered with a dusting of ash.

I've been keeping busy with canning and other projects though! :)

Canning Ground Meat - Canning meat is so easy, I wish I'd started years ago! These directions work for canning ground beef, pork, elk, or venison.

Homemade Ketchup - I tried several times before I came up with this recipe that finally met the approval of my crew. (It lets me avoid high fructose corn syrup, which was the second ingredient on the commercial ketchup I was using.)

Clear Jel - If you want to start canning fruit pie filling, you'll need some Clear Jel!

How to Grow Garlic -The great thing about garlic is that it is planted in the fall, and it's one of the earliest things to arrive in your garden in the spring. Very motivating!
