Civilian Climate Corps will boost sustainability jobs

As part of climate change initiatives announced Wednesday, President Biden will form the Civilian Climate Corps, a program similar to the Depression-era Civilian Conservation Corps. Jobs would be created to help in reforestation, regenerative agriculture and outdoor recreation, among other projects.

The US Department of Labor reported Thursday that first-time unemployment claims totaled 847,000 for the week ending Jan. 23. The total was lower than economists expected and less than the 914,000 claims from the week before.

Flying taxis ready for take-off in Florida

Even though the first flights might still be a couple years away, one of the companies eyeing the global flying taxi market plans to open at least 10 vertiports across the Sunshine State. The five-seat electric taxis will be emission-free and no louder than a motorbike.
